YVR Chapel offers our Muslim friends prayer mats and a quiet place to say their prayers, as well as organized Jumu’ah, or Friday prayers. While the chapel has no fountain for ablutions, our Muslim friends are welcome to use the nearby washrooms.

YVR Chapel regularly welcomes Muslim brothers and sisters from all over the world, including groups leaving for the hajj, or pilgrimage. First-time visitors will find the qibla, or direction for prayer, marked on the ceiling in the corner of the prayer room. Muslim women self-conscious about praying in our prayer room need only ask, and we’ll ensure that they can say their prayers privately in an adjacent room. We ask only that all prayer mats be returned to the storage bins after each use. And Muslims seeking a place to pray post-security, will find a prayer room named after our founder, Layne Daggett, in Pier D, complete with ablution facilities.
Vancouver’s Muslim community brings the beauty of its rich ethnic diversity to both our city and our airport. Known for their generosity and hospitality, Muslims enrich Canadian culture with their distinctive foods, art, customs, and religious devotion.
