Our multi-faith chapel story

Some 40 years ago, Layne Daggett found himself stranded overnight in an east coast airport, struggling to come to terms with the unexpected death of his father. There was nowhere for him to find sanctuary. When he returned to Vancouver, he founded YVR Chapel out of a desire to offer a place of welcome, support and sanctuary to travelers and employees of all faiths.

Though much has changed since then, YVR Chapel has remained true to its founder’s vision. We provide caring spiritual, emotional support for the well-being of airport employees of every faith and no faith. Each year the chapel team connects with hundreds of airport employees and assists hundreds of passengers, including many refugees. We aim to model God’s unconditional love in all we say and do.

Supported and guided by our multi-faith board, our volunteer receptionists greet and assist all who come to us, and our chaplains talk with and pray with anyone wanting such help. If you’re passing through YVR or work at the airport, please drop in and see us. We’re always ready with a listening ear and helping hand.
